Hello and welcome to my all new blog, I say all new because up until recently I had a blog on this web address, but…………….. I lost it all :-(

This was partly due to some nice person that hacked my blog and web space, but also partly due to my own stupidity!!!!!!!! Why is that Terry? I hear you ask, well I’ll tell you why…. Because I didn’t back up my blog!!!!!

Yes that’s right I didn’t bother to back up my blog and consequently I lost everything, now luckily my blog wasn’t making me any money, but just think if I’d been making $500/month from it or $1000/month or even more…. all gone in the blink of an eye. Just because I couldn’t be bothered to back up my blog on a regular basis.

So how do you back up your blog? simple, just go to tools then export and then it will tell you what to do:

“When you click the button below WordPress will create an XML file for you to save to your computer.

This format, which we call WordPress eXtended RSS or WXR, will contain your posts, pages, comments, custom fields, categories, and tags.

Once you’ve saved the download file, you can use the Import function in another WordPress installation to import the content from this site.

Choose what to export

This will contain all of your posts, pages, comments, custom fields, terms, navigation menus and custom posts.

 

As you can see you just choose “All content” and everything in your blog is saved as an XML file, then if the worst should ever happen you’ve got everything save and you can import it back to your clean blog

So as you can see backing up is really important and……. if I’d done that in the first place I wouldn’t be writing this post now!!!!!!
